ARREST IN VEHICLE BREAK-INS ON VETERAN’S WAY

HUNTSVILLE A Kitchener man charged with theft a week ago was arrested again last night in Huntsville after police got a 911 call about vehicles being broken into on Veteran’s Way.

Police say that on Tuesday Sept. 1 about 10:35 p.m., officers responded to a downtown address here, where they found Bryan Noble, 25.

After further investigation they learned Noble was in breach of his release conditions after an Aug. 26 incident in which he was charged with theft under $5,000 and trespassing by night.

Noble was further charged with:

–  Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle contrary to section 334(b) of the

Criminal Code.

– Trespassing by night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code.

– Two counts of breach of recognizance contrary to section 811 of the Criminal

Code.

– Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to section

355(b) of the Criminal Code

Noble was released on an Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville Nov. 4, 2020.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of the importance of securing your vehicles and taking other steps to reduce thefts from vehicles.

The following are some of the simple things that can be done to decrease the risk of being victimized:

  • Never leave a running vehicle unattended
  • Lock your doors
  • Roll up your windows
  • Keep your registration and proof of insurance in your wallet or purse, not in the glove box
  • Protect your keys
  • At night or during extended parking periods, always park in a well-lit area.

And here is a list of things our crime prevention experts suggest would-be thieves look for when looking for opportunities involving vehicles:

  1. Vehicle left running
  2. Unlocked doors or trunk
  3. Bags of any sort (especially shopping bags)
  4. Visible electronics
  5. Visible phone chargers
  6. Loose change in view
  7. Sunglasses
  8. Tools
  9. Watch or other jewellery
  10. 10.Easy access to trunk from vehicle cab
