BRACEBRIDGE — The SIU has been called in after a police “interaction” with a male accused of damaging hospital property in Bracebridge early Saturday that landed the man back in ER.

A brief OPP release today, Aug. 5, said police from the Bracebridge detachment were called to a report of an “intoxicated male” leaving the Muskoka Algonquin Health Care site and allegedly damaging hospital property Aug. 1, shortly before 2:00 a.m.

The OPP say they found the man and after the “interaction” arrested the 30-year-old who was returned to hospital ER for medical assessment.

They wouldn’t say what happened or if there were any injuries.

The OPP notified the province’s independent Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which investigates incidents of injury involving the provincial police.

The OPP release says as a result it will not be able to provide any further information.

They referred media inquiries to the SIU.

A man accused of damaging hospital property at 2 a.m. Saturday was returned to the ER in Bracebridge after being arrested by police, say the OPP. The SIU is investigating the police “interaction” with the suspect.
