PORT SYDNEY BEACH SWIM ADVISORY JULY 3

HUNTSVILLE Another hot weekend comes with s swim advisory at the Port Sydney Beach on Mary Lake — one of the best large public swim areas in Muskoka.

The Town of Huntsville has been notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that an advisory has been issued for the popular waterfront.

An advisory is a warning to swimmers but it is not a beach closure.

During an advisory, a beach is posted with warning signs when the water contains levels of bacteria that indicate there may be an increased risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose and throat infections and stomach disorders. If you choose to swim during an advisory, avoid ducking your head or swallowing the water.

Advisory signage is posted at the beach and the Town of Huntsville will monitor the situation in accordance with the advice of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

The health unit has added a second beach to its summer advisory list. Gravenhurst’s Gull Lake Rotary Park also has an advisory on it.
