PORT SYDNEY Four days after getting the all-clear to return safely to water, the Port Sydney Beach is back under a “swim advisory” as of July 21.

The Town of Huntsville says it has been notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that a swimming advisory has been issued for the popular Mary Lake summer retreat in the downtown of the village.

Port Sydney swim lessons will be relocated to Hutcheson Beach at regular scheduled times. Registered participants will be contacted by the town’s aquatics employees.

An advisory is a warning to swimmers, but it is not a beach closure.

During an advisory, swimmer are urged not to swallow or put their head under water, as the bacteria count is higher than recommended.

Effective July 21 the Port Sydney Beach is under a swim advisory.
