ASSAULT AT TORRANCE BARRENS, WHITBY MAN CHARGED

TORRANCE The Torrance Barrens in Muskoka Lakes Township is becoming a regular stop for police this summer.

They say that on Sunday, July 19, at 3:15 a.m., OPP from the Bracebridge detachment  responded to several 911 calls regarding a man who was beating another man.

Officers arrived and found the assault underway and immediately took the accused into custody.

A second victim was also found with injuries after trying to help break up the fight.

The victims were transported to hospital with serious injuries and later released.

Police have charged 30-year-old Farid Khasianov, of Whitby, with Assault Cause Bodily Harm CC 267(b) X 2 and Fail to Comply with Probation CC 733.1(1).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Sept. 29.

This follows a recent gun call at the Barrens where a man was charged with shooting a weapon into the air in area popular for its unique dark sky observations.

Police arrested a Whitby man after two people were injured in a fight in the middle of the night early Sunday at the Torrance Barrens in Muskoka Lakes Township.
