MAN CHARGED AFTER THROWING BOTTLE OF SANITIZER
GRAVENHURST — A man faces charges of assault and theft after an altercation involving hand sanitizer yesterday morning at a downtown business.
Provincial police say that on Wednesday July 15, at 9:15 a.m., officers were called to the Fabricare Cleaning Centre in Gravenhurst.
They say an employee was assaulted by a man.
The employee acknowledged that the man was not a patron and asked him to leave.
Police say the employee said the man took a bottle of sanitizer and threw it outside causing the employee to have to pick it up.
During that interaction, the man was alleged to have assaulted the employee, say police.
Police investigated and subsequently arrested and charged 30-year-old Travis Gostick, of Gravenhurst, with Assault CC 266 and Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b).
Gostick is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sept. 22, 2020.
The charges come the same day a 73-year-old in Minden was shot at his home by police after the OPP said he refused to wear a mask at a grocery store and assaulted an employee.
