LOCAL MEN CHARGED IN MARY LAKE B&E, ASSAULT

HUNTSVILLE — An early morning robbery and minor assault on Mary Lake — which resulted in an extensive police search — has led to charges against a pair of local men in custody.

Provincial police from the Huntsville detachment and the Muskoka Crime Unit are investigating last Monday’s break and enter at a residence located on North Mary Lake Road.

They say that at 7 a.m. on July 13 two suspects broke into the victim’s home where a “physical altercation” took place.

It ended with the two suspects fleeing the property.

Police say no one required medical treatment for their minor injures.

The OPP Canine Unit was called in to search for the suspect with help from the OPP Emergency Response Team.

They say an extensive “canine track” was conducted without success.

The next day, July 14, police arrested two Huntsville men, 29-year-old Kenneth McDougall, and 28-year-old Jonathan Smith.

Both were held for a bail hearing July 15 and were held in custody.

Huntsville OPP will continue to investigate any suspicious activity in the town. Anyone who may have any further information about this is asked to contact Huntsville OPP at 705 789 5551.
