TD BANK GRAVENHURST TO RE-OPEN AFTER COVID SCARE

GRAVENHURST — A COVID-19 scare at the TD Canada Trust branch here has been averted.

The bank closed Tuesday, June 1, for employee testing after it was feared a case of the coronavirus was present in a staff member who self-isolated after last being at work May 29.

Carla Hindman, their corporate PR person, said Friday that the test on the worker came back negative and that the Muskoka Road location would resume counter and teller service for customers on Monday, June 8.

And that employees would be allowed to return to work.

Signs on the north door and inside the south ATM entrance pointed customers to the nearest branch, in Bracebridge, but did not make mention of the COVID testing.

There was concern that had the person tested positive the pandemic virus could have spread throughout the town through community contact among hundreds of people banking at the branch.

ATM services were not affected and remained open to the public from the street Friday.

All this as a Gravenhurst man, in his 60s, is the latest to test positive for COVID-19.

The unidentified man is in hospital after getting it thorugh communitcy contact.

He is the 19th person in Muskoka to test positive; 17 have recovered and one has died.

A sign on the door of the bank this week said it was temporarily closed but did not say that an employee was being tested for COVID-19, which turned out to be negative.
