MAY DAY POLICE CHASE IN HUNTSVILLE TODAY

HUNTSVILLE A May day police chase through downtown early this morning has led the three charges, including impaired driving, against a Huntsville man.

Provincial police say that on Friday, May 1, at 2:45 a.m., officers tried to stop a car driving in the town’s business core.

They say that as the driver fled police, the car sped up to an excessive speed and was being driven in a “dangerous manner.”

The car was eventually stopped by police on Brunel Road near the Huntsville High School.

The investigation resulted in Tarandeep Singh, 21, being charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 320.13 of the Criminal Code.
  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • And Flight from Police contrary to section 320.17 of the Criminal Code.

Singh was released to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville Ontario, on July 8th, 2020 to answer to his charges.

As in all cases were a driver has been charged with impaired driving, his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his car impounded.

A 21-year-old Huntsville man was eventually stopped near the high school about 3 a.m. today and charged with impaired driving and fleeing police.
