BOB ADDISON WAS HUNTSVILLE MAYOR IN 1970

HUNTSVILLE Bob Addison, a former mayor of Huntsville who served briefly in 1970, has died.

Town of Huntsville flags have been lowered to half-mast at town facilities in his honour.

Robert (Bob) Addison, ppointed at age 33, was first elected to town ouncil in January 1968. He was appointed as mayor from August 4, 1970 to Nov. 26, 1970.

He died May 25 in Huntsville at Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice.

During his time on council, he also served on several committees including chair of welfare, police, fire and finance committees.

Addison replaced Milt Tibbett, who resigned as mayor of Huntsville on July 20, 1970, to become the first chairman of the new District of Muskoka.

Norm Goodwin decisively won the mayor’s later that year when the Town of Huntsville amalgamated.

Mayor Karin Terziano said in a release Tuesday that town council and staff  express their condolences to Addison’s family and friends.
