‘CLOSE CONTACT’ CAUSED LATEST MUSKOKA COVID-19 CASE

MUSKOKA — A Huntsville woman who had “close contact” and a Muskoka Lakes woman with possible “community-aquired” COVID-19 are among today’s latest grim statistics reported in the daily count by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).
The stats reinforce calls for social distancing and a health unit report two days ago warning that “more cases are on the way.”
They said in their now regular update, on Thursday, that the Muskoka Lakes woman in her 20s is being “investigated.”
She was the 65th case of 66 reported April 2.
And the Huntsville woman, in her 50s, was case number 58.
That brings the total in Muskoka to eight (one person has recovered)
Both are self-isolating.
Of the 66 cases SMDHU has reported so far, the health unit says 17 people have recovered, 10 were hospitalized and four have died.
See related MuskokaTODAY.com story to first six cases here.
SMDHU statistics note:
Cases are assigned to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit based on the residential address of the patient, not the location of the hospital the patient was seen at. For cases that reside outside of Ontario, cases are assigned to the health unit that is actively following up with the patient.
