4 NEW CASES TODAY IN MUSKOKA; ‘EXPECT MORE’
‘EXPECT CASES TO RISE’ IN DAYS, WEEKS

SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — With four more cases of the coronavirus confirmed today in Muskoka — and evidence of community transmission of COVID-19 in the region — health officials are warning the pandemic is spreading in the community and as returning travellers get back their test results.
“We expect the number of cases will start to rise over the next days and weeks,” said a release Tuesday, March 30, from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).
And they say one new case is not linked to travel or a previously known case.
This comes as health officials in Muskoka are set to open two new screening centres tomorrow (April 1) in Bracebridge at the Rotary Centre and in Huntsville at the hospital.
The SMDHU currently has 52confirmed cases of COVID-19 including nine recovered, eight in hospital and four deaths.
The say due to this, public health in unable to monitor how the virus is spreading from person to person and this makes it more difficult to slow its spread.
And this is not just a disease affecting the elderly, most of our cases are among adults between 35 and 64 years of age.
The four news cases SMDH reported today (two in Gravenhurst and two in Huntsville) bring the total now to six date back to the first case last Thursday.

Male, in his 20s, who travelled to Austria/Switzerland
#32 — GRAVENHURST – Recovered- reported March 27
Male in his 60s, who travelled to Quebec
#35 — HUNTSVILLE – Recovered – Reported March 30
Female in her 60s, who travelled to the U.S.
#36 — GRAVENHURST -Self-isolating – Reported March 30
Female in her 50s, who travelled to the U.S.
#37 — GRAVENHURST -Self-isolating – Reported March 30
Male in his 50s, who travelled to the U.S.
#39 — HUNTSVILLE – Self-isolating – Reported March 30
Male in his 60s, who travelled to Austria
