‘ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE …’ IS A GOOD SIGN

MUSKOKA — Signs of thanks for COVID-19 “heroes” are everywhere now.
On TV, in social media and also said with pots and pan.
Essential workers on the pandemic frontline — who can’t stay at home — appreciate the praise and respect albeit late.
From window hearts to bus-sized billboards and fences the words may be different but the message are the same.
“… we appreciate all of you and all you do,” reads a sign up today in Gravenhurst.
In Huntsville a couple of school buses are plastered with massive messages — one at the south entrance to town, the other outside the hospital:
“A Heartfelt Thank-You to Our Police, Firemen (sic) & Utility Workers.”
It’s sponsored by Campbell Bus Lines, Festing Toyota and Hypervision Signs.
There’s also a series of small, inspirational signs — for these hard times — about the downtown.
Towered over by the town hall, one by English pop star Des’Ree reads:
“You gotta be cool
You gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know … All I know
Love will save the day.”
Next to it, at the Algonquin Theatre — at the foot of a statue of hometown idol Tom Thomson — are the lines from Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney:
“… All you need is love. … Love is all you need.”
The electric sign at the theatre tells people to “Stay Home Stay Safe.”
It also lights up with a message of where to go to get more information on the corona virus.
Good use of signage that other towns and private businesses should have done weeks ago with their personalized billboards.
