1.7% ELEXICON HYDRO HIKE DELAYED TO NOVEMBER

GRAVENHURST — A hydro rates hike for residents here served by Elexicon Energy was delayed today due to the COVID-19.

In a release April 30, they said they are postponing a 1.7 per cent increase in distribution rates until at least Nov. 1.

They said the move to postpone the scheduled May 1 hike, which was approved by the Ontario Energy Board, will save residential households approximately $1.07 per month.

Elexicon (formerly Veridian) says it has taken several measures to ensure customers have reliable power throughout the pandemic.

All electricity disconnections have been suspended, and extended bill payment options and financial assistance programs remain available.

Hydro customers with Elexicon will be spared an approvied May 1 hike of $1.07 on average per month until at least Nov. 1.
