NEW NORM IN ONTARIO’S FIGHT IS ‘NORMAN MILLER’

BRACEBRIDGE — The new norm in Parry Sound-Muskoka is “Noman Miller.”

Your veteran Tory MPP — who is the son of former premier and health minister Frank Miller — is on the job at the heart of the Ford government’s coronavirus fight.

The folksy politician formerly known as nice guy “Norm Miller” issued the following official “statement” on the COVID-19 crisis as he provides experienced leadership behind the scenes to help his province and constituents at this crucial time:

“I want to again thank everyone who has been practising social distancing or who has self isolated. I know that is the vast majority of people in Parry Sound-Muskoka and across Ontario.

“However I have been hearing stories of individuals who are not following these precautions and to those people I want to say you are risking not just your own health but the health and even the lives of other people.

“If you need groceries, please send one person to get the groceries if at all possible. In the stores please follow social distancing practices, purchase only what you need and remember to thank the retail staff.

“If you are returning from outside of Canada, you must self isolate for 14 days. You should not be directly interacting with anyone outside your immediate household. In this case you will have to ask someone else to pick up essentials for you and leave them at your door.

“Our government recognizes this situation is challenging for all Ontarians – both emotionally and financially.”

Miller says that on Wednesday, March 25, the Minister of Finance will deliver an economic and fiscal update, a one-year plan that reflects the current environment and the actions our government is taking.

“Our approach will include increased resources for our healthcare system, direct support for people, and action to protect jobs and our economy.

All of our government’s decisions and directions have been informed by the advice of the province’s chief medical officer of health.

“Please take his advice. If you can stay home, please stay home. If you are sick, stay home. If you must go out, practice social distancing, wash your hands regularly and try not to touch your face.

“If you have returned from out of the country or if you have any symptoms, stay home and self isolate.”

He adds: “My staff and I are available to help you but for everyone’s health and safety we are asking that constituents contact us only by email or phone and not come into the offices.”
