IMPAIRED CHARGES AFTER CRASHES

BRACEBRIDGE — Two people face impaired driving charges after accidents last week.

A Muskoka Lakes Township man who walked away from his vehicle after it left the road has been charged with drug and alcohol charges.

Provincial police at Bracebridge say that on March 15 at 9 p.m. OPP officers received a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway on Manitoba Street near Lone Pine Drive.

Police located the driver and as a result of their investigation, arrested and charged 55-year-old Wendell Connick with:

  • Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a )
  • Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) CDSA 4(1)
  • Fail to Stop After Accident CC 320.16(1)

Connick is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 7, 2020 to answer to his charges.

And on Tuesday March 17 at 4:15 a.m. Bracebridge OPP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Muskoka Road 169 near East Black Lake Road in Muskoka Lakes Twp.

Officers attended and located the driver, asleep, and subsequently arrested and charged 24 year-old Talon Sandy, of Moose Deer Point, ON with:

  • Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • And Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 2, 2020 to answer to his charges.

In all cases where a driver is charged with Impaired Driving, their driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle is impounded.
