CN RAIL WORKERS MOVE WIGWAGS

GRAVENHURST — Traffic was rerouted at the CN track on Brock Street at Bethune Drive Monday as work to move the wigwags took place.

After the siding track through town was removed at the old Train Station last year, new Transportation Canada regulations meant the safety crossing arms had to be placed closer to the remaining track.

As a result, more than a dozen CN workers moved the north end arm about a dozen feet closer.

An advance crew was on site last Thursday and Friday moving wires and doing prep work, while the road remained open.

Traffic was detoured north and south of the intersection for most of the day, which started with a dusting of snow.

There are two daily freight trains going through Gravenhurst, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Road safety traffic arms over the tracks at Brock Street and Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst were moved Monday.
