SONGS AND STORIES AUTHENTIC MUSKOKA MUSIC NIGHT

GRAVENHURST — Chords and cords.

A cold night and a warm room, that was tonight at the Opera House.

Where “singer and music maker” hosted the monthly Songs and Stories night Tuesday.

Joining him on piano were 17-year-old Meeda Berg and her aunt Ruth Cassie.

The trio are all from Huntsville, where Cotton (a well-known local guitar player) has produced their songs, including a CD recently by Berg.

Many of which can be heard on Hunter’s Bay Radio, where they are getting some regular play.

Most of the evening’s songs and stories were laid back, introspective personal reflections on their lives.

Short and all but a couple original.

And quite enjoyable, as witnessed by the 50 or more sitting around the Trillium Court warmly applauding each of the dozen strong offerings.

Cassie’s song about the woodsman selling cords of wood added more Muskoka authenticity to the night.

The finale featured a six-handed piano sing-along that included enthusiastic audience appreciation.

Seventeen-year-old Meeda Berg was all over the keyboard and adding a voice that soared octaves from husky to above high C.
Host Sean Cotton brought two talented friends to the monthly series tonight, Ruth Cassie and Meeda Berg.
Six hands made light work of finale that had the audience singing along.
