GRAVENHURST — With another cold snap Thursday calling for an overnight temperature of -16, local organizers of the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk are bundling up for Saturday’s GAP fundraiser.

And three days out, the thermometer is expected to creep up to a relatively balmy -5 by 5 p.m. when walkers gather to leave the Centennial Centre on two short routes down Muskoka Road to the south end of town. (A shorter route is also available.)

The forecast for the first day of the weekend calls for a mix of sun and cloud, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. A high of +2 during the day.

Before and after there’s social time in the Terry Fox Auditorium.

As of Wednesday, 33 teams with 152 participants have been put together.

They have pledged more than $35,000 of the $50,000 goal for the Gravenhurst Against Poverty weekly dinners and food giveaways.

Public donations are still welcome, even if you don’t walk.

Drop by and help out, if you can. You can sponsor a team or walker at Saturday night’s event.

The fundraising numbers just continue to rise for the Gravenhurst Coldest Night of the Year walk.
