WOMEN’S CENTRE MOVING TO UNITED CHURCH IN MID-JANUARY

GRAVENHURST — The Women’s Centre has a new home.

After about a half dozen years at their previous location across from the Opera House — and due to a change in building ownership — they were forced to relocate from the main street location.

A quick search around town and they will have landed further up Muskoka Road to the United Church in about a month’s time.

In an announcement to supporters, the board issued the following statement:

“We have some good news; we would like to share with everyone.

“We have new space identified and hope to be up and running again by mid-January

following our relocation.

“Our Centre will be located on the bottom floor of Trinity United Church, 290 Muskoka

Road N. The room is large enough for us to maintain a “get together and chat over

coffee” as well as space for a couple of tables to support our workshops. We can

arrange for larger workshop space within the church if needed. The new location is

wheelchair accessible.

“We are excited about this new space and the opportunity to partner with the church and

with G.A.P., who also make use of the church for their lunch and supper programs.”

The centre has been closed for more than a month, after the Farmer’s Daughter diner recently opened.

The United Church is fast becoming a social community hub in Gravenhurst to meet the growing needs of the underprivileged.

The Gravenhurst Women’s Centre is on the move, as of mid-January, their board has just announced.
