SEVERN TOWNSHIP PEDSTRIAN DIES AFTER BEING HIT ON HWY. 11

SEVERN Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian found on Hwy. 11 early this morning near Big Chief Road.

Provincial police from Orillia investigating the fatal collision that occurred in the Township of Severn October 13, 2019 at about 2:15 a.m.

Police were called to a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a person on the road in the northbound lanes.

The man has been identified as, 21-year-old Matthew Schembri, of Severn Township.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.

The highway remained closed for several hours while the Orillia OPP and Central Region Technical Traffic Investigators (TCI) investigated this incident.
