MILLAR, SCHREINER TO TEAM UP SUNDAY SEPT. 15 TO GROW GREEN

PARRY SOUND — Green is gold these days.

Everyone is jumping on the environmental bandwagon as the federal election ramps up with 38 days to go now and a wave of Green enthusiasm sweeps across the country.

Green Party of Ontario Leader and MPP Mike Schreiner is coming to Parry Sound on Sunday, September 15 from 1-3 p.m. as part of his provincial leader’s tour.

He will be speaking at the West Parry Sound District Museum at 17 George Street in Parry Sound.

And he will meet with the public and supporters of Green Party federal candidate for Parry Sound-Muskoka, Gord Miller, says local Green provincial president Glen Hodgson in a release this week.

“Green Party on Ontario Leader Mike Schreiner

visits Parry Sound with message for clean and caring economy.”

He says that with climate change on everyone’s minds, Schreiner will bring a message of optimism that Greens can deliver the solutions we need by embracing the $26 trillion global clean economy – creating jobs in areas like renewable energy, transit, advanced manufacturing, sustainable forestry, local food and farming and more.

“Schreiner’s effectiveness at Queen’s Park has translated into Green growth and popularity in Ontario, which is typically dominated by status-quo parties,” says Hodgson, a former riding Green candidate.

Schreiner will reflect on his first year at the Ontario legislature and the difference that just a single Green can make through bold ideas and a willingness to work across party lines.

“With climate deadlines fast approaching, this election is our last chance to send a group of Green MPs to Ottawa who will put the livability of our planet at the top of the agenda. We’ve proven that Greens can win in Ontario and I know we can translate this to the federal level.” said Schreiner in the release.

“We consider this to be a last chance election federally in that this is our last opportunity to vote for real action on climate change. We simply cannot wait any longer and every vote counts in this election. We are watching a Green wave sweeping across Canada and Parry Sound-Muskoka is ready to go Green,” added Miller in the same release.

While the event is open to the public, seating is limited so those who wish to attend are encouraged to contact Glen Hodgson at parrysoundmuskoka@greenparty.ca  to reserve your spot.
