HOW DID FRAIL, 80-POUND WOMAN DIE AFTER GOING MISSING?

GRAVENHURST — The coroner’s office is investigating how a frail, 75-year-old 80-pound senior died after going missing Monday, Sept. 17.

Provincial police say that on Wenesday, September 18, 2019, officers from the Bracebridge detachment of the OPP were called to assist with a missing person from Clipsham Road in the south end of Gravenhurst in the Sparrow Lake area.

They say police specialty units assisted uniformed members in the search for Margaret Ivy Jane “Jean” Robinson, who was described as 5-foot-3 and weighed just 80 pounds. She had grey hair, and was wearing an orange and purple toque and a red and black plaid scarft. She had on red and green plaid fleece pants and frequently used a walking stick.

Police say shortly before 6 p.m. they located her deceased.

Investigators will continue the investigation under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Police say investigators are looking to create a timeline of events and are requesting the assistance of the public.

Robinson was known to frequently walk in the area. If you are a witness and saw anything out of the ordinary since Monday September 16, 2019, in the area of: Clipsham Road, Southwood Road or Sparrow Lake D Road, please contact the Bracebridge OPP Detachment at 705-645-2211, the Provincial Communication Centre at 888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. Police issued this conflicting missing person report, which says Jean Robinson went missing Monday, Sept. 17. But Monday was the 16th and Tuesday was the 17th.
