SPLASH PAD OPENS FOR SUMMER FRIDAY IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — This weekend brings good news on the local waterfront.

With the beach at Gull Lake under a swim advisory until further notice, the splash pad at the Muskoka Wharf is finally opening for the summer Friday, Aug. 16, after being closed most of the season — including the hottest month of the year in July.

The opening has been delayed by two days later than planned, according to the town.

On June 10, a town release said: “The Gravenhurst Splash Pad at the Muskoka Wharf Sports Field, located at 1111 Bay St. will be Closed for the 2019 Season to Undergo Full Evaluation and Repair.

“This will include the reconstruction of the subgrade and the maintenance and repair of surface drainage, mechanical room and water features.  The allocated project budget is $100,000.

The estimated completion date is August 15, 2019.”

“We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to restore the Pad in a timely manner.”

At long last, Friday, Aug. 16, some respite from the late summer heat for kids, their parents, grandparents, babysitters and caregivers.
