BLAZING FIDDLES BEND MCA MINDS ON FOUR STRINGS

GRAVENHURST — Who knew the fiddle and the violin were so interchangeable.
Fans of the Blazing Fiddles knew, for sure, long before the quartet made their second straight summer performance at the Opera House Saturday night.
No wonder the versatile group were back by popular demand for the Muskoka Concert Association’s (MCA) annual fundraiser.
After four successful season shows this year the local concert group returned with this disarmingly-named foursome, who were full of fun and fancy fiddlework.
But Jeff Taylor, Brielle Goheen, Adam Poot, and Chris Kettlewell were much more than what you’d hear at Shelbourne or down east — though they were great at both those types of tunes.
And stepping up for some down south rockin, stompin’ Charlie Daniels type of country was easy for them.
Add some Grand Ole Opry Patsy Cline sounds and they were Crazy good.
Equally adept they were with their classical repertoire, that included Bach and Beethoven.
No wonder fans follow them around.
For even those who were reluctant to attend, they walked away glad they did.
