NO SPLASH PAD; NO SUNDAY LIFEGUARDS AT GULL LAKE

GRAVENHURST — Fast on the heels of closing the Muskoka Wharf splash pad and telling users to go to local beaches, the Town of Gravenhurst has sent out notice that Gull Lake Rotary Park won’t staff life guards on half of every weekend this summer.

They said Tuesday that: “Due to a staff shortage of lifeguards and the regulations of the Employment Standards Act, Gull Lake Rotary Park Beach will NOT be guarded on Sundays throughout July (7, 14, 21, 28), August (4, 11, 18, 25) & September (1).”

It adds: “The beach will remain open for use, but caution is advised as there will not be lifeguards on site.”

They say recruitment efforts for lifeguards will be ongoing throughout the summer.

But they don’t say if that will mean a resumption of service if more suitable staff are found and hired.

If you, or someone you know, has the appropriate qualifications, please contact Nicole at nicole.crown@gravenhurst.ca or 705-687-6774 ext 22.
