GRAVENHURST — An infrastructure review at the Muskoka Wharf Tuesday will see officials going dock to dock to assess their condition after 14 years.

The town staff has hired Tatham Engineering for the day-long inspection June 18, from 7 a.m. and it could last 12 hours.

During this time the public are urged to exercise caution while travelling around the docks, both boat and foot traffic may be affected. The docks will remain open during inspections, but please be aware of the professionals conducting this important review.

Tatham Engineering officials will be at the Muskoka Wharf examining the dock conditions Tuesday, June 18. The public is asked to be careful around them.

The study will involve the inspection and condition rating of all above water and below water components, including; docking surface, cleats, lighting, alignment, floats, anchors and chains, says a town release.

They say that while the docks have received regular maintenance since their original install in 2005, monitoring is a critical component to ensure the useful life of assets are maintained and that future repair and replacement strategies are undertaken in a sustainable manner.

Last year a large section of  boardwalk was replaced.
