TRUDEAU IN PORT SYDNEY WEDNESDAY FOR COWIE’S NOMINATION

PORT SYDNEY Justin Trudeau will be at the community centre here Wednesday night to help Trisha Cowie kick off her election campaign.

The prime minister will attend the Parry Sound-Muskoka federal Liberal Party nomination meeting at 7 p.m., where Cowie will be acclaimed after no other candidates ran.

She was the party’s candidate in the 2015 election.

Trudeau and the Liberal team say, in a release, that they are focused on a strong plan for Ontario: to strengthen our middle class, grow the economy, invest in affordable housing and better roads and bridges, and protect a healthy environment for our kids and grandkids.

They say more than 80,000 Ontarians have already signed up as new Liberals since the last election, and that grassroots support is continuing to grow every day.

The 2019 election is Monday, Oct. 10.

Independent MP Tony Clement, who lives just a couple of kilomtres from where the meeting is being held, announced he will not be running.

His former Conservative party still does not have a candidate. The NDP are running with Tom Young.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be a guest speaker at tomorrow night’s nomination meeting of Trisha Cowie on May 8.
