GOVERNMENTS TO SPEND $4 MILLION ON BRIDGES, ROAD
QUEEN’S PARK, TORONTO — Three bridges and a road in Parry Sound-Muskoka are among the first round recipients of a tri-level government infrastructure spending program.
MPP Norman Miller said in a release Tuesday that the $4 million cost for the four projects — split between the provincial, federal and municipal governments — is part of the Ontario Government’s $30-billion integrated bilateral Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The work includes the much needed replacement of the Etwell Bridge in Huntsville, the Snider’s Bay Bridge in Gravenhurst, the Black Bridge in Bracebridge, and the rehabilitation of Yonge Street in Burk’s Falls.

Miller said Ontario’s Minister of Infastructure Monte McNaughton has been working closely with Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ernie Hardeman, on the $500-million Rural and Northern stream of this program. Projects, including those in Parry Sound-Muskoka, are the first to be nominated under this stream.
“These projects make up the fabric of our community. They’re the things that matter – the roads and bridges that get us home at night,” he added.
“These projects are vital to ensuring rural communities across Ontario are open for business and open for jobs” said Minister Hardeman “they’re much more than concrete and steel. They connect rural businesses to the provincial economy.”
The projects are now awaiting approval from the federal government.
