$773,000 ONT. TRILLIUM GRANT FOR MUSKOKA ASH PROJECT

BRACEBRIDGE — Canada’s first Residential Wood Ash Recycling Program is getting some help from the Ontario Trillium Fund.

Friends of the Muskoka Watershed say they are excited they will receive a $773,000 “grow grant” to launch the program, which will begin trying to solve the calcium deficiency problem in Muskoka’s lakes and forests, says markeeting director Audrey van Petegem.

Tuesday, April 23 from 4-6 p.m. they will be at Brookland Farms (1375 Butter and Egg Road, Bracebridge) for the official announcement and family event, where there will also be opportunities for the public to have a guided tour of the sugar bush and some maple syrup tastings.

Joining them will be MPP Norm Miller, OTF rep Patricia Arney, Muskoka Lakes Township Mayor Phil Harding and district chair John Klinck and Dr. Norman Yan, chair of the Friends of the Muskoka Watershed.
