MEGHAN SHANNON TO SEEK FEDERAL TORY NOMINATION
PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA — The race to replace independent MP Tony Clement is well underway and there isn’t even a date set for a Conservative nomination meeting.
However, the first official candidate to step up seeking the nomination is Meghan Shannon.
She recently announced that: “After careful and thoughtful consideration, and with the full support of my loving family, I am proud to announce that I am returning home to seek the Conservative Party of Canada nomination for Parry Sound – Muskoka.”
Holly Thompson of Bala is also seeking the nomination, and Scott Aichison of Huntsville is expected to do so also.
She said that having been born and raised in the small town of MacTier, “I know full well the challenges and opportunities that exist in these beautiful northern communities.”
“My strong roots and family ties in Parry Sound–Muskoka make me passionate about serving the needs of its residents. Personally knowing many small business owners and hard-working individuals in these communities inspires me to want to fight for them in Ottawa. I want to fight for a more affordable cost of living, to improve supports for seniors, and defend your freedoms as Canadians.”
Shannon said she has recently completed a PhD in the field of rural economic development from the University of Waterloo.
“It is a privilege to now have an opportunity to apply this knowledge to improve the lives of those living in the riding of Parry Sound-Muskoka.
“My goal is to defend Canadian values, such as keeping more of your hard earned money, less taxation, smaller government, fiscal responsibility and freedom of speech.
“I know that policies need to be changed at the federal level to improve the lives of Canadian families. A better solution exists for this country and it will only be realized by electing a Conservative government.
She says: “It would the greatest honour to be your Conservative candidate for Parry Sound-Muskoka.”
