Muskoka Anglers 4-0 in junior hockey playoffs, home again Sunday

GRAVENHURST — The Muskoka Anglers are off to a hot playoff start with a 4-0 record in the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League.

With a pair of wins against the Hawks, the Anglers face the Stallions Saturday, the other top team in the junior hockey league. the

With two wins against the Grey Highlands Hawks, the Gravenhurst-based junior hockey team hosts the Essa Stallions Saturday night, March 16, in Angus and Sunday night in Gravenhurst.

The Hawks and Stallions both finished with 73 points in the regular season,

The Manikwaki Mustangs were third, with 63 points, and the Anglers fourth with 47 points (22 wins, 20 losses, with an OTW and OTL).

The Anglers won the first game of the post-season 5-2 over the Seaforth Hawks last week (Friday, March 8), followed by a pair of wins over the Hawks (Saturday March 9 and Wednesday March 13).

Head-to-head in seven games against the Stallions, the Anglers only won twice (4-3 Nov. 23 and 5-1 Jan. 12), but are a much improved team in March.

Game time Sunday March 17 is 2:30 p.m. at the Graeme Murray Arena in Gravenhurst.
