HUNTSVILLE A drug-impaired driver who apparently fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle, hitting the back of another pickup truck on the main street of Huntsville, faces a couple of drug-related charges.

A 41-year-old Huntsville woman faces two drug charges after rear-ending another pickup truck on Huntsville’s Main Street.

Provincial police say that just before 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, a silver pickup truck westbound on Main St., crossed the centre of the road, driving into the back of another pickup truck.

They say it appears the driver fell asleep.

The OPP investigation also found that the driver was impaired by drug.

As a result, Andrea Hyland, 41, of Huntsville, was arrested and eventually charged with impaired driving by drug under the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of Schedule I drug under the Controlled Drug and Substances act.

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on April 17, 2019 to answer to her charges.

Police would like to remind the public that driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is never OK, it may cost you your life or the life of someone else.
