Gravenhurst woman sprayed in face with chemical, female charged

GRAVENHURST — A wild and violent attack on the main street of Gravenhurst last Friday afternoon has resulted in the arrest of a Gravenhurst woman with charges against her in an assault on another female.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Gravenhurst woman after an attack on the main street against another female on Feb. 22.

Provincial police say that on Feb. 22, 2019, at 4:20 p.m. OPP officers responded to a report of an attack on a woman that occurred on Muskoka Road North.

They say the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a vehicle stopped beside her and a woman jumped out and sprayed her in the face with a type of chemical and assaulted her.

Police quickly located the suspect, who was known to the victim, and as a result of their investigation, arrested and charged 22-year-old Kate Van Loan with Assault CC 266.

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 26, 2019 to answer to her charge.
