Vehicle thefts include Gravenhurst pickup, Bracebridge licence plates

GRAVENHURST — Not only are thieves stealing vehicles, but also licences plates.

A Gravenhurst man has tweeted that his loaded pickup was stolen Dec. 27 from his Jones Road home.

Provincial police are investigating after a number of licence plates have been stolen/swapped in the Clearbrook Trail area of Bracebridge.

Three people have contacted police to report either a licence plate missing, or that a plate has been attached that isn’t theirs.

Although there is no clear motive for this sort of mischief, police are asking residents to be extra vigilant in watching over their community.

If you live in that area, please have a look to see that the correct licence plates are on your vehicle and that they’re both intact. If something is missing or misplaced, or if you have any information that may assist the investigation, please contact Provincial Constable James Reading at the Bracebridge Detachment.

Meanwhile, a Gravenhurst resident is on social media tweeting about the theft of his truck.

He says his grey 2009 Dodge Ram pickup was stolen overnight Dec. 27 on Jones Road.

The hefty theft included a yard of sand in the box, along with shovels, a work box and rack with a strobe light bar on roof.

Anyone with information is asked to Contact Bracebridge OPP or Crime Stoppers.
