Third ATM stolen from a Hwy. 11 business the past two weeks

GRAVENHURST — Not again.

Has this suspect struck again?

A week after reports of thieves stealing two ATMs from the same Hwy. 11 business in Severn, there’s another report of an ATM being stolen closer to Gravenhurst from another Hwy. 11 business.

How can this be? Is any ATM safe? What about your PIN?

Is this the same suspect(s) who ripped off two ATMs since Nov. 30 along the same stretch of road – at about the same hour?

What are police doing? Why aren’t there more police along that stretch?

Lots of questions.

Provincial police are once again investigating a break and enter into a local business where the automated teller machine (ATM) was stolen.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, suspects attended a gas station on Hwy. 11 in Gravenhurst.

Two suspects driving an older dark-coloured pick-up truck broke into the gas station and forcefully removed the ATM.

Police were called to the scene when the alarm was triggered by the suspects.

Police are examining evidence left at the scene as well as video, with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.

They are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
