Driver flees after van crashes on Chamberlain Drive in Gravenhurst Saturday

GRAVENHURST — Police are looking the driver and occupants of a vehicle that crashed into a gate here on Chamberlain Drive Saturday evening.

A white van that crashed on Chamberlain Drive Saturday about 7:30 p.m. had the police canine unit sniffing out the occupants who fled before the OPP arrived.

Provincial police say that just before 7:30 p.m. a white Dodge Caravan hit a gate and the vehicle was found abandoned  in a nearby driveway, after the occupants took off on foot.

The OPP canine unit was called in to assist in the search, with no luck.

Police now say they are looking for Bernardo Silva Araujo, who was responsible for the van, to check on his well-being.
