Hwy. 169 detour through Torrance Sept. 10-29

TORRANCE — Better get up extra early Tuesday if you’re driving through Torrance to work or the first day of school.

Work on Hwy. 169 will begin and drivers will start to see a slowdown due as construction equipment is brought in about midway between Bala and Gravenhurst.

But the following Monday is when a detour at Black Lake will add at least an extra 15 minutes to travel times.

The district is replacing a road culvert at Black Lake.

In a notice Thursday, they said initial work will commence on Sept. 4 and continue until the end of September.

The advise that Muskoka Road 169 will be under a full road closure starting Sept. 10, for a maximum of 19 days.

At this time a 1.7 km detour will be available through Torrance Road West and Torrance Road East.
