Two Huntsville lotto players win total of $150,000
HUNTSVILLE — Two local lotto players are richer after recent wins.
John Drake, of Huntsville, is celebrating after winning a $50,000 prize with INSTANT BINGO DOUBLER (Game #1881).
“I’ve been playing the lottery for over 30 years,” said Drake, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings, according to an OLG release.
“I won $10,000 in 1990s, and then two months later a trip to Las Vegas from an INSTANT BINGO ticket.
“So the INSTANT BINGO tickets are the only ones I play,” he said with a big laugh.
After playing his ticket, Drake knew he had won.
“He immediately went into the backyard and asked his wife of 52 years if she wanted to go to Toronto.
“To pick up the $50,000 I just won.”
The 70-year old father and grandfather is a retired audio/visual staging company owner.
He plans on paying bills and taking a trip with his wife in the future.
“The money is going in the bank first, and then we’ll have to see.
“It brings me some relief and takes some of the pressure off,” he concluded.
INSTANT BINGO DOUBLER is available for $5 a play and the top prize is $100,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.53.
His winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on King William Street in Huntsville.
Meanwhile, Todd Teklenburg, also of Huntsville, doubled Drake’s amount, by winning $100,000 with ENCORE (May 25, 2018 LOTTO MAX draw).
Teklenbury matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order to win the prize.
ENCORE can be played in conjunction with most online lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Your Independent Grocer on Howland Drive in Huntsville.
