Life-threatening assault on Gravenhurst’s main street Wednesday

GRAVENHURST — Police are once again saying very little about a major crime in the community, one that may be lead to the second deadly assault in town in less than five days.

OPP from Bracebridge are asking the public’s help involving an assault, but are offering the public little information.

And once again it took place in broad daylight and may also have been witnessed by the public, who they are calling on to assist them.

A brief two paragraph release Friday morning from the OPP detachment at Bracebridge says they are investigating an assault that occurred in Gravenhurst.

Only the victim may die.

They say the victim is suffering what they call “life-threatening injuries.”

Police don’t say who the victims is, their age, the location, circumstances – or if the public is at risk from a possible attacker, or if anyone else may be involved.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, at approximately 11:25 p.m. they say officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Muskoka Road South, the town’s main street.

The victim was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.

This comes following the death Saturday afternoon of Kahshe Lake resident John Kehl, whose son, Adam Kehl, has been charged with second-degree murder in his father’s death.

Police are also mum on that fatality, as well, which appears to have been very grusome.

Police said in that case the accused was charged with an indignity to the body.
