Suspect sought in downtown Orillia assault

ORILLIA A downtown assault has police on the lookout for an aggressive suspect.

Police were called after an assault in which a thief got away with money.

Provincial police say that on Wednesday May 3 the Orillia detachment of the OPP  received a report of a robbery downtown.

An investigation revealed on May 2, between the hours of 9:30-10:30 p.m., the victim was walking on Mississaga Street between Peter and Matchadash Street.

An unknown male approached and pushed the victim to the ground.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction with money.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male.
  • Shaggy blonde hair.
  • Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
  • Between the ages of 30-40.

Police are requesting the assistance of the public. The victim believes there was a couple walking on the other side of the road having a conversation and laughing. Police would like to speak to these people or anyone else that may have witnessed this or has information regarding the circumstances surrounding this robbery. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
