Horticultural society bus trip to RBG June 14

GRAVENHURST — Spring is in bloom — and there’s no better inspiration for gardeners who want to sharpen their green thumbs than a bus trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens June 14.

One of the great gardens of Ontario — indeed Canada — the RBC offers a plethora of perennials and plants that have the advantage of winter indoors in grow rooms, as well as stunning outdoor gardens that you can graze and admire as the aroma of the season grows on you as you venture into your own summer of delightful and stress-reducing gardening.

The Gravenhurst Horticultural Society has arranged a day-long coach trip to Burlington, to the largest botanical garden in Canada — a National Historic Site —the second Thursday in June.

The cost includes the bus and admission to the RBC grounds.

For members it’s $55 or $65 for non-members. (Here’s a tip, buy a membership for $10 and get equal value, plus a chance to go to meetings all year and hear guest speakers and enjoy taking part in the annual plant and flower-judging contest).

The bus leaves Bracebridge’s Walmart at 8 a.m. and from the Gravenhurst Canadian Tire at 8:20 a.m.
