Dump truck hits parked vehicle with 2 people inside

PONTYPOOL Two people parked in a vehicle were stunned when a dump truck ran into them Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured when a dump truck hit a parked vehicle with two people inside.

At about 1:20 p.m, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment were called to a Pontypool area residence to investigate a two-vehicle collision.

They say a parked vehicle, occupied by two persons, was struck by a dump truck.

Luckily, only minor injuries were reported.

Following a police investigation, the driver of the dump truck, 63-year-old Eric Bonsma, of Pontypool, was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving contrary to section 249 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 14, 2018.
