20-year-old driver charged with racing

GRAVENHURST — A young Toronto driver has been charged with racing on Hwy. 11 north Monday night.

Speed accused of racing 50 km/h over the limit.

Provincial police say that on Monday April 2, 2018 at 11:45 p.m. an officer from the Bracebridge OPP detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst when a vehicle sped by at an extremely high rate of speed, more than 50 km/hr in excess of the posted speed limit, police say in a release Tuesday.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently charged 20-year-old Garrett Pepper with Racing a Motor Vehicle HTA 172(1).

The accused received an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded for a week.

He is to appear in Provincial Offenses Court in Bracebridge on April 24, 2018 to answer to his charge.
