2 kids injured in snowmobile accident

HALIBURTON — Two children were seriously injured in a snowmobile accidents Family Day — with one needing to be airlifted to hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries.

Provincial police say that on Monday afternoon, Feb. 19, just after 3:30 p.m. Haliburton OPP responded to a report of a single motorized snow vehicle (MSV) collision on private property on Lake Kawagama in the Township of Algonquin Highlands.

Two young children were injured after a snowmobile they were on accelerated and collided with a fixed object.

As a result of the collision one child was air-lifted to a Toronto area trauma center with life threatening injuries.

The other child sustained minor injuries.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) was on scene and assisting with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
