Rotary flash mob for Stedman’s owners’ retirement
GRAVENHURST — A flash mob of Gravenhurst Rotarians and spouses surprised Curt and Irene on Friday over the lunch period.
Many congratulations were expressed to this wonderful couple, who are retiring after running the Stedman’s V&S Store for 31 years in Gravenhurst and 45 years in retail.
A beautiful huge Rotary cake was donated by Denise and John Cooper, and shared not only with Rotarians, but the Humbers’ many loyal customers
It was a way of thanking the business owners who have have been huge Rotary supporter.
Their store has been the home for the Rotary TV/Internet Auction, where donated community items were gathered, tagged, logged before and handed out after.
Their lunch counter was also the site of many club committee meetings and coffie discussions morning and afternoon.
The Humbers also provided all the brats and buns at cost for the Rotary Brat Booth over the years.
They have sold their business to another local business couple, who own the Gravenhurst Home Hardware.
The sale goes through March 1.
And no immediate changes are expected.
It includes the Elephant’s Trunk, next door; but owner Ken Schwab is staying open until the summer of 2019.
