TASTE OF MUSKOKA, ONTARIO, ON THE DOCKS AT HUNTSVILLE

HUNTSVILLE — For a taste of Muskoka, Ontario, dining and dancing on the dock are staples of every summer menu anywhere near Algonquin Park.
Thursday night on the new docks downtown Huntsville on the river between Lake Vernon and Fairy Lake, 114 people sat down under a ten that looked like a longhouse.
Luckily, too, as a short downburst sent them inside just as the cocktail hour was ending at the Flavours of Ontario dinner event.
But it didn’t dampen the spirits or the spirits.
So, on an otherwise gorgeous 20-degree night, the menu and music were filled with sensuous tastes and sounds that wafted out over the water and cascaded up and downstream.
Local chefs and some Niagara College students prepared a memorable, multi-course meal that had the diners eating for hours.
Meanwhile, down along the dock within listening distance was Neil Barlow’s Lady Muskoka dance band, playing for your dining, dancing and listening enjoyment out on a floating dock.
Simply summer, simply a pleasant way to spend a mid-August evening on Muskoka, Ontario.
