BRACEBRIDGE — The rail road to Toronto for Northlander passengers remains a bumpy one.

Not the least due to a couple of moose that have gotten in the way — and few rail ties that still need to be replaced between here and North Bay to get it up to speed.

And while there is still no start date … the good news is that the food onboard may actually taste pretty good.

That’s the word along the track as the two-engine and two-car Northlander made a short visit here in Bracebridge just past noon on a brilliant sunny fall Thursday afternoon Oct. 22.

While a half dozen staff in orange and yellow vests jumped off at the stop, a worker in the head end engine chatted briefly with a few curious observers trackside and offering a little more snippets of info on how track testing is going.

Still it was encouraging to finally see the four gleaming gold and blue engines and cars making a stop in Muskoka.

One that was a little longer than the quick hop-off, hop-on time expected who knows when — ????

Wherever the Northlander goes or stops it gathers anxious and interested observers looking for any news on its pending start and arrivals.
Word trackside is the food is pretty good. Workers seem to like it so far as they got a taste of it here this week with their own version of Door Dash.
The Northlander, hesitating here on southern outskirts of Bracebridge along Ecclestone Drive waiting to proceed downtown, could soon be a reglar site. Though there is no word yet on the timing of its return to passenger rail service.
Engine No. 950 heads north into town with two cars followed by its backend engine No. 939.

And away she goes … the Northlander leaves Bracebridge for Huntsville and Ontario communities in the near north.
