GRAVENHURST — There was lots of dancing down front — and some earplugs in front of the speakers Friday when the BOMB dropped in on the Opera House here with the ’80s sound.

Back by popular demand, the four-piece Durham retro band rocked the OP with another near sell-out a year later.

The Gen X crowd lapped up their music with tributes and covers of new wave, dance, MTV, MuchMusic, and FM radio hits (such as David Bowie, U2, Duran Duran, The Cure, and Depeche Mode) and a little less of the heavy metal or hair-raising side of the genre.

Always entertaining, lively and enjoyable, the quartet is an ever popular choice for those born after 1965, through the 1980s and even in to today.

They had the fans singing along — and even in tune when prompted in one audience participation song by Joe Conway.

Even if his wife, Darlene, joked she didn’t think he sounded that particularly well others in the family party praised his sudden impromptu rockin’ rendition.

It was just part of the fun on a night that brought back lots of “High School Confidential” memories.

Bomb groupies and fans partied like it was the ’80s again Friday in Gravenhurst.
