GRAVENHURST — When Bill Kalogripsas got the keys back for the old Oliver’s Coffee Shop here last fall, he said he was optimistic about another fast food outlet taking over the corner of Muskoka Road South and James Street where he and others have a history of restaurants.
Including his Rombos where he made great pies and spaghetti for decades.
He told me: “One of the companies that is most interested in Gravenhurst — and they’re very hot — is Barrios,” a Mexican food restaurant operating in Canada under the name of Barrio Buritto Bar.
He said his son, Bill Jr. was interested in getting a franchise.
Well, it seems he’s got one and is looking for a franchisee to run the 1,200 sq.-ft. corner lot building that has sat empty for more than six months.
A sign up this weekend at the south end of the property says so.
Kalogripsas Sr. recently rented his former Bill’s Pizza business in Bracebridge to Mary Brown Chicken operators.
He said the Gravenhurst location was too small for at 2,000 feet they would need.
He was unavailable for comment Sunday morning.
